Footy (football, lol): Has to be my beloved Glasgow Rangers! 🇬🇧💙❤ I don't particularly support any national side, especially neither Scotland or England. However, I do have a few national teams whom I love seeing do well.
Ice hockey: Anaheim Ducks (aka, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim prior to 2006). And as I have been living in Sheffield for the last almost 9 years, I'd be rude to not root for The Steelers. 😎
Baseball: NYY, all the way! Although, I kinda have a soft spot for the Texas Rangers... Nothing to do with my footy team, lol! One of my mates lives in Texas with her husband and they're both huge Rangers fans. 😅
Basketball: I'm with you on this one, Mike... go Orlando Magic! 🤘
Pro Wrestling: Too many to mention, here. However, my all time fave has gotta be Bret "The Hitman" Hart. 🤘😎🤘 🇨🇦 Also, gotta show some love for the late Davey Boy Smith, aka, the British Bulldog. 🇬🇧
That's about it, really. 😊
#10 St L cards. KC. Alt. Tex. ...2 of 4 made it to the play offs. Now my cards have to hang on..........#4 I got a 37....in 6 holes of mini golf. Don't want to think about how I would do in "big" golf.
Are you taking the piss when metioning countries that play cricket? Think this one was a bit rushed Mike. 2 sport's i have never seen in Australia and one of the most popular being cricket not even mentioned
GO LEAFS GO!!!! Major hockey fan here. I bleed blue. Let the abuse begin...lol Also love American Football (although I am a Canadian) I used to be a big Giants fan until they made Eli second string. Canadian Football is fun to watch as well. It is highly underrated. (Toronto Argonauts) The Blue Jays for baseball. Toronto Rock for Lacrosse. Last... Go Toronto Raptors. I love sports. Although, I've never cared for football/soccer. (I think most Canadians can guess where I live.) :0)
Wigan Warriors are my team.
They play Rugby league (not to be confused with Rugby union, although you didn't specify in the video, "Rugby" is actually two separate sports since 1895).
We play in Super League along with other teams from England, plus France and now Canada!
In your part of the world Rugby league is played by Jacksonville Axemen, Lakeland Renegades, SWFlorida Copperheads and Tampa Mayhem in the USA Rugby League. Check out a game if you get a chance, it's a great sport to watch 👍
Yes; Socca was an insult.....in England. If you walk the streets of some upper class areas in the south of England today you will hear the term "Rugger" for Rugby....but those from the Rugby school didn't think much of the association rules of Eaton's version of "Footer" so they mocked those playing it and called it soccer (from asSociation) so whilst yes, Mike's right, the word did originate from England, it does have class undertones (and racial ones from what I hear about it in South Africa)....But, there's an assumption today that those, here at least, who call it soccer, probably are more the rugby playing type (who often...at least in the south are from private schools...i.e. class undertones) kinda one reason we just prefer to call it football.
Rugby union is not violent, it uses channelled aggression and determination, it’s rare for teams to have violent acts on or off the ball. Rugby league is the same. American football on the other hand!!!!!.
You could have mentioned that the St Louis Cardinals Baseball and the St. Louis Blues won the Series and the Stanley Cup respectively in 2018 and 2019. Our baseball team roots for our two major league teams
Same. I'm a St. Louisian and life long Blues fan (as my pic shows!!) but when I was about 6 I got a bunch of hockey cards and absolutely loved that Nordique jersey with the fleur-de-lis and started watching Joe and the avs. Growing up I tried to imitate his wrist shot and became a huge Nords/Avs fan, up until about a year ago actually! I was a dual fan for 20 years but for some reason my love kind of went away...maybe due to being in the same division now where points are crucial in this tight division.
My top three
1: Soccer and favorite teams are FC Bayern(Germany) and Djurgårdens IF (Sweden)
2: Hockey and favorite teams are Sharks (NHL) and Djurgårdens IF (Sweden)
3: F1 Favorite team is Ferrari and favorite driver Michael Schumacher
@Sam Kingsway Yeah, sports is really to promote health not to destroy it, injure and kill. They say they are well trained but you can not train your brain. Gloves do nothing because then they would not be knocked out. This is criminal in all other cases. There can be accidents in sports but it shouldn't be the purpose.
Born and raised in the North side of Chicago, (transplanted to Tampa) my teams are Da Bears, the Blackhawks, the Cubbies and the Bulls in that order (also the Northwestern Wildcats). Now that I am down here in Florida, I have adopted the Gators and love when the Bucs play Da Bears and lose.
The saddest day in football was when the Bucs moved out of the Central division and only play Da Bears (and lose) once every blue moon.
Football/soccer will always be #1....
1. Only need one person to play around (two for a game)
2. A ball is the only equipment required
3. Any aged person is capable of participating
4. It is fun to watch as a spectator
These are my main reasons for why I think football/soccer will always be the world's #1 sport.
Yep. I grew up playing hockey and the cost of an hour of ice is about $200. FOR ONE HOUR OF PRACTICE. And gear is at least $1500 if you don't want skates that will fall apart. Goalies spend $5000+. Way too expensive for most to get into (except in Canada)
Been a Sydney Roosters fan in the now NRL (National Rugby League Australia) since the early 70s. They won their second premiereship in a row last weekend 🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏😂😂😂 I do enjoy motorsports cars, bikes and trucks.
@Dave Goldspink I was lucky enough to see the Roosters in person when they came to the DW Stadium this year for the World Club Challenge. Enjoy the success because the Raiders are going to win the next 3 or 4 NRL Premierships with Bateman and Co 😎👍😂
